Digital help desk

310 administrative files unblocked in 2025

Benefits, paperwork and appointments have all moved online, we sit next to people until it is done.

The State moved online, and left a queue of people standing outside the screen: elderly neighbours, newcomers still learning the language, families whose only internet is a cracked phone.

The need

A third of the people we meet have lost money or rights simply because a form was online-only: an unrenewed benefit, a missed appointment, a scholarship that expired unclicked.

What we do

  • Open help desk three afternoons a week, no appointment, no jargon, real chairs
  • Side-by-side support: the person keeps the mouse, we keep the patience
  • Beginner workshops: email, passwords, spotting scams, storing documents
  • Refurbished laptops handed over with training, not just a charger

The impact

310 administrative files unblocked in 2025 (pensions, health cover, housing aid) and 85 refurbished computers placed in homes that had none. The average visit recovers rights worth far more than what it costs us to run.

Two hands.
Two hours.

That is all a shift takes. No committee, no training weekend before you are useful: you come, someone shows you, you help. The movement is made of people who showed up once and stayed.

  • Evenings, outreach and soup runs
  • Saturdays, grocery and collections
  • School hours, tutoring and paperwork help
